Looking back at Richie’s past, he would seem your typical soccer honcho who would fit the role. Backe personally believes that he knows the team well. Backe also credits Williams with famous trades like this week for Toronto FC and former Welsh international Carl Robinson. Williams proudly states that the team knows what it needs to do and how to get there (Let’s hope so). Well, Rich bill, I hope your right !!!
So I been playing FIFA wolrd cup 2010 with my brother (unfortunately) and learned many things about THE UPCOMING 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP…….WHERE THE F**K ARE THE REST OF THE TEAMS ! Today, D.C.United announced that it will take on Mexican Primera Division side Santos Laguna for the second leg of the current preseason. The club just finished the first portion of the preseason (as will as training for 17 days) in the town of Bradenton, Florida.
While the United manager is highly excited to be playing against one of the top clubs in Mexico, he should’ve reconsidered that when facing off against any opponent, never give too much credit. This is what the Dave Kasper (GM of D.C. United) said: “We are excited to train at Santos’ wonderful facilities in Torreon, Mexico, and we are honored to be playing a friendly against one of the top clubs in Mexico at an incredible venue”.
Like seriously, I remember when competition …WAS COMPETITION. You never gave the other person too much credit for whatever reason, until the match was over. Its like verbally awarding the Oscar award to a nominee, before they even call out the winner!! Hmmm it seems like MLS is turning into every other American sport, ALL ABOUT ADVERTISING. Cheers !!

The New York Red bulls defeat Toronto FC to win the Walt Disney championship. The red bulls win by a sweep of 4-0, with forward Juan Pablo scoring 3 of the points! This also concludes that the Red bulls has gone unbeaten in the 2010 preseason, with a 4-0-3 stat. I just hope they keep this up during the regular season !
The Red bulls return home on Sunday. After Red Bull Arena’s Grand Opening against Santos FC on March 20 at 6:00 PM, the Red Bulls kick off their 2010 MLS Regular Season at Red Bull Arena on March 27, when they host the Chicago Fire at 7:00 PM (TV: ESPN, ESPN Deportes).

Well well well, looks like the L.A. Galaxy are really “trying to tune up” before the MLS season starts !
On Friday, LA Galaxy announced that the club will play CD Aguila in friendly game on Sunday, March 21 (5 PM) at The Home Depot Center. Supposedly, this “tune-up the L.A. Galaxy before staring the MLS Season for 2010. C.D. Águila is one of El Salvador’s best soccer clubs. Since being founded in 1926, Águila has established itself as a power in the Salvadoran First Division, capturing the league title on 14 occasions. What a match that would be ! Since L.A. Galaxy has a huge fan base (its said they are second in highest fan base and stadium ticket sales !!), lets hope they come in the clutch against such an aggresive team, besides we do have home advantage ! we’ll see what happens.

Recently, Red bull New york announced that it will host its first international friendly game on saturday, May 22. The teams that will play each other will be the national teams of Czech Republic and Turkey.
Hmmm, Sounds like were more known for our fancy stadiums and not our “fancy players”. Dont get me wrong, it is said that the Redbull Arena will be the “finest stadium on the continent”. It is common when it comes to any athlete going back into training. The laps and drills the lifting of weights, the exercises that require explosive strength as well as endurance. But to say they’re “leggy”? that’s unprofessional !! Especially when your in the big boy league !
On 2/17/2010, D.C. United played their second match for the 2010 preseason against the Toronto FC and it seems that they didn’t perform their best. United Head Coach Curt Onalfo , said he expected this to happen, stating after the match that, “We really pushed our guys along physically this week, and whenever you do that guys end up being a little bit leggy and you lose some of the sharpness.”

Ok, as I recall, your players do this for a living correct? Also you probably have the best trainers and nutritionists surrounding your team, right? Then could someone explain to me, how comes these players don’t train EARLIER in the preseason so they could on top of their game before anyone else? I know that is the whole point of a pre-season, but if I was a coach, ill tell my players to be ahead of the ball and train early.
